The interview went smoothly but the consulate who interviewed me said my Visa Approved and she kept the passport. She did not give me any kind of paper. There’s no way to speed up the visa process. You can send the request via your congressman or senator, but it will not speed up the process , but you may be able to get an answer that our case is still under process and not stuck somewhere. Apparently Administrative Processing happens to all applicants, (at least in the Shanghai consulate). Did a little bit of research on the Chinese forums, unless the interviewer said that you will be placed in AP, there is nothing really to worry about. AP is the default status after your interview, even if your visa is approved on the spot. Embassy Denies Your Visa After Administrative Processing. In most cases, I recommend to just reapply for the visa if you are denied.
