How to program multiple cars to garage door opener

How to Program a Garage Door Opener to a Vehicle - Dengarden. Can You reprogram a garage door opener? How do you program a door opener?


Press and release the learn button on your first garage door opener motor unit. Choose a remote button and hold it down until the opener.

Quickly press the button on the remote control and hold it down a moment. Programming the remote to the machine only takes a second. To combat this, you might need to have a repeater. You plug this device into the socket in the garage, then it can relay the signal to the logic box.


You may have to link the repeater to the logic box. In addition, some cars require you to use a navigation screen when trying to program garage door. Your garage door can only have so many items programmed at once.

For instance, if you get new cars, keypads or remotes you may max out the number of codes that can be stored. I would recommend that you reset the garage door unit. You can do this on many of them by holding the learn button for several seconds. This sounds obvious, but you really do need to choose a remote from a manufacturer that you respect the reputation of.


Additionally, the remote must be the same make as the actual garage door opener. DO NOT hold it in, or you will clear the memory. Close the garage door and pull the emergency handle to disconnect the opener from the door. Press the Red Program button on the garage door opener.


This can be found on the front cover of the opener. The opener will beep to indicate that you are programming mode. Find a garage door remote that currently operates the door. Choose which HomeLink button you want to program to move the door.

If your in-car (UHR) remote has LED lights, one above each button, you should follow the instructions below to program your Rolling Code Garage Door Opener. Place the garage door opener into “learn” mode by pressing the small square colored button, or the small round black button on a Genie, located behind the light bulb. Repeat the press-hold-and-release process two more times and your car opener will be successfully programmed to your garage motor. The receiver, handheld transmitter, and in- car transmitter must all be in good operating condition to ensure success when you program the garage door opener. The HomeLink system is available on a wide range of cars , and it can also be purchased as an aftermarket product. Press PROG again (red LED blinks twice per second). When you need to program a garage door opener , it’s a good time to change the batteries.


If you don’t, the batteries will fail sooner and you’ll need to program the garage door opener again. It’s better to plan ahead and change the batteries while you’re programming. Hold your old garage door transmitter next to the HomeLink buttons in your vehicle (no further than a couple inches). Press and hold the transmitter button and the HomeLink button you want to assign the garage door to at the same time.


Watch the light on the HomeLink system. A Genie garage door opener which has only terminals on its motor head will use the terminals on the motor head marked for common and for power. If you have a Genie garage door opener with more than terminals, an external 24Vac adaptor will need to be purchased to supply power to this receiver. Press and hold down the button on Original Remote that you wish to program onto the corresponding button on Copy Remote, and then press and hold down the corresponding button on Copy Remote.

Release the HomeLink vehicle buttons when the indicator light begins to fl ash (after seconds). Hold the new remote control 1-away from the HomeLink and keep the indicator light in view.
